A Talent Acquisition Force Multiplier

About

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, Datto is a global provider of IT solutions for managed service providers (MSPs). Its cloud-based platform helps partners protect data, ensure business continuity, and manage networks effectively.

Datto’s suite includes data protection, backup and disaster recovery, network management, and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools. With operations across North America, EMEA, and APAC, Datto supports more than one million end users through its MSP partner network.

When Datto set out to expand its commercial organization across EMEA, its internal Talent Acquisition team faced a new challenge: scaling quickly while maintaining the quality and precision that defined its recruiting process.

Rather than seeking a traditional external vendor, Datto partnered with ISC to strengthen its internal capabilities through its Workstream model, the partnership delivered flexible, on-demand recruiting capacity for a range of commercial roles, from entry-level to leadership and Country Manager searches.

Over the 12-month engagement, ISC successfully completed numerous placements across EMEA, supporting Datto’s commercial growth while maintaining an average cost per hire of $3,800.

The Challenge

Datto’s Talent Acquisition team was highly capable, but expanding across EMEA required greater recruiting capacity to keep pace with demand. The company needed to accelerate hiring for Regional Sales Executives, Sales Engineers, Sales Operations, and leadership roles—without compromising quality or consistency.

Instead of outsourcing the entire recruitment process, Datto sought a collaborative partner that could integrate smoothly with its internal TA framework.

Our Approach

ISC worked directly with Datto’s Talent Acquisition Manager for EMEA, staying in constant communication to align priorities and timelines. ISC functioned as a dedicated sourcing partner, giving Datto’s team immediate scalability and access to broader market insights.

The collaboration supported a variety of commercial roles across DACH, Benelux, the Nordics, and the UK. While Datto’s team managed interviews and candidate experience, ISC focused on identifying and sourcing high-caliber candidates who met both technical and cultural requirements.

Results

The collaboration between Datto and ISC produced tangible results and reinforced the strength of Datto’s internal TA model:

  • Successful placements across DACH, Benelux, the Nordics, and the UK
  • Average cost per hire of $3,800, well below traditional external models
  • End-to-end coverage from entry-level to leadership and Country Manager roles
  • Increased sourcing bandwidth, freeing internal recruiters to focus on interviews and stakeholders
  • Greater agility, with ISC shifting across roles and regions as priorities evolved
  • Continuous alignment and communication with TA leadership

This partnership enabled Datto to maintain its high standards while meeting aggressive hiring targets across EMEA.

Conclusion

Over a 12-month engagement, ISC acted as a force multiplier for Datto’s internal Talent Acquisition team, providing the targeted scalability and flexibility needed to meet commercial hiring goals during a period of rapid growth.

By operating as a trusted extension of the internal team, ISC enhanced Datto’s recruiting reach and efficiency while preserving its established processes and culture.

When Datto’s internal function was ready to absorb all open roles, the transition was smooth and intentional which was a clear reflection of strong communication and mutual trust.

Six months later, Datto successfully completed its IPO, marking a major milestone in its growth journey. ISC’s role during the company’s pre-IPO expansion phase demonstrated how its Workstream model can empower internal TA organizations to scale strategically, cost-effectively, and without disruption.
